According to the textbook "prostitution can be defined as the offering of one's self for hire for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity for money or its equivalent"(Schmalleger pg#223). "In the United States, over 92,000 men, women, and juveniles are arrested yearly for the crime of prostitution"(Schmalleger pg #223). In Polk county today there is a lot of prostitution in all of the cities throughout our small county. However it is not as bad as it used to be because we have a wonderful sheriff that him and his deputies have been working overtime to clean up our county. When it comes down to clean up our streets from all the illegal drugs, prostitution, and other crimes Sheriff Grady Judd is the best. I have seen on TV many on many occasions where the Polk county Sheriff's office has set up stings in Haines City and I was very surprised to see how many prostitutes and men soliciting sex that show up trying to buy sexual favors. Majority of these men and women have families at home, some of them even came on vacation with their wives and children to Disney world and find themselves locked up in Polk county because of their stupidity.
