Protests may not have been encouraged by people such as Samuel Adams had it not been for the enlightened ideas circulating through the colonies. The Sons of Liberty probably wouldn’t have existed as we know. The coordinated boycotts and petitions would have been for an entirely different reason. But because ideas of Democracy and republicanism were being formed, the series of acts were not at all tolerable in the eyes of many leaders. However there were still many loyalists to Britain. While the stamp act was repealed, this just lead to the Declaratory Act which was a blatant reminder of control that Britain tried to keep on the colonies.
