Which therapeutic approach do you think is best for this problem; why? I believe that the best therapeutic approach for this disorder would be the Cognitive Therapy. With cognitive therapy a lot of patients have been resistant to with medicine alone so they can be targeted for treatment with Cognitive Therapy. I would use the ABC model that was developed by Ellis and Harper. It is very important to let the patient develop his own alternatives to previous maladaptive assumptions, preferably by looking for alternative explanations and coping strategies already present in the patient’s mind (ABCs of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Schizophrenia | Psychiatric Times, n.d.).
