Schizophrenia Name of Disorder The name of the disorder that I would like to use is Schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a mental disorder characterized by delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech and behavior.
Symptoms of Disorder Symptoms can vary depending on the individual. They usually include delusions, hallucinations and illusions, lack of emotional expression, disordered thinking and inappropriate reactions.

Which therapeutic approach do you think is best for this problem; why? I believe that the best therapeutic approach for this disorder would be the Cognitive Therapy. With cognitive therapy a lot of patients have been resistant to with medicine alone so they can be targeted for treatment with Cognitive Therapy. I would use the ABC model that was developed by Ellis and Harper. It is very important to let the patient develop his own alternatives to previous maladaptive assumptions, preferably by looking for alternative explanations and coping strategies already present in the patient’s mind (ABCs of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Schizophrenia | Psychiatric Times, n.d.).
