Psy 2022 Week 2 Group Reflection

During the summer of 2022, which was the summer right out of high school before the fall semester had started, I did a program at IU called the Groups Scholars Program where I had to take two summer classes and stay on campus. My final for one of these classes was a group project in the form of a news broadcast with multiple segments such as sports, politics, and entertainment. There were about four other people in my group besides me working on our project. We had to meet weekly to work on this project and when we would meet usually everyone would be doing work except for one of the group members. Our interactions were mostly pleasant. If we had more of a groupthink mindset throughout the entirety of the project, then maybe we would’ve been better off since only one person would’ve been making the decisions and coming up with the ideas instead of trying to accommodate everyone’s ideas and decisions. I believe that if we had gone with the more beneficial group norms such as working together and communicating effectively, then our project would’ve been easier to accomplish without long periods of confusion as well as unwanted setbacks and hesitation. When leading the optimal problem-solving group, I would set boundaries and rules of what should take place and how it should take place such as meeting weekly, individual check-ins as well as collaborative check-ins, and equal communication between the group. Equal communication would mean that everyone would need to engage in conversations where everyone shares and listens to ideas that they believe would resolve the issues permanently and/or
