The North Dakota State Hospital does a variety of testing and assessments because of there a variety of clientele. Doctors (e.g., Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Psychoanalysts, and Holistic Doctors), Nurses (, Social Workers, Counselors (e.g., Addiction and Clinical Mental Health), State Board of Medical Examiners, State Board of Psychologist Examiners, and Direct Care Associate are who does the testing and assessments. They do psychiatric assessments, patient assessment, personality testing, screening for cognitive impairment, polygraph tests, penile plethysmograph, clinical assessment, psychometric testing, risk assessment, and mental health screening.

Psychiatric assessments, also known as psychological screening it is a method of collecting information concerning a person within a psychiatric service, with the intention of giving a diagnosis. Patient assessment is getting to know the patient and their background history. Personality testing is a standardized list of questions, applied to characterize or evaluate a patient’s personality traits.
