This was illustrated by the whole facility of the shutter island, they are all psychiatrics. 2) Flash back, a sudden and disturbing vivid memory of an event in the past usually it's because a psychological trauma. This was illustrated by the scenes from Germany when Teddy was a soldier when he was seeing the dead bodies. 3) Defense mechanism, the ego's protective methods or reducing anxiety by unconsciously distorting reality. It was demonstrated by Teddy when he was having the conversation with Dr. Naehring. 4) Manifest content of dreams, the remembered story line of a dream. This was shown when Teddy kept dreaming of his daughter and wife and that he thought that his dreams are because he misses his wife. 5) Latent content of dreams, a dream that has a meaning, as it is trying to tell you something. It was illustrated by Teddy dreams and how it tried to show him that there is no Rachel. 6) Delusion, false beliefs that's often of persecution or grandeur. It appeared with Peter the patient when he thought that the nurse wants him to have a relation with her. 7) Hallucination, false sensory experience.
