Filing a claim with your insurance company is stressful situation, full of uncertainty. Is it worthwhile to file a claim, or should you let it ride? Have you done everything that you're supposed to like submit the proper forms and supporting documents? Will the company pay the entire claim amount, and if so, when? Unfortunately, insurance companies aren't always easy to deal with and many policyholder's questions go unanswered. One way to avoid these pitfalls is to rely on the services of a public adjuster to get through the process. But, what exactly is a public adjuster, and how do policyholders benefit from hiring one?

What is a Public Adjuster

You've probably heard of an insurance company claims adjuster, they're the people that come out and inspect the damage you're claiming to determine what you're owed. They are paid by, and represent, the insurance company when you file a claim. Their main function is to help the insurer minimize the amount of money paid out on claims. A public adjuster, on the other hand, is compensated by, and solely focused on, the policyholder. Their job is to make sure the insurance company fairly settles claims and that they honor the details and provisions of the insurance policy.
