You've probably heard of an insurance company claims adjuster, they're the people that come out and inspect the damage you're claiming to determine what you're owed. They are paid by, and represent, the insurance company when you file a claim. Their main function is to help the insurer minimize the amount of money paid out on claims. A public adjuster, on the other hand, is compensated by, and solely focused on, the policyholder. Their job is to make sure the insurance company fairly settles claims and that they honor the details and provisions of the insurance policy.
