An important passage from the book is “The only fingerprints were his aunts. That was why he had to stop by the funeral home, to take elimination prints”(168). This is significant because it starts to show progress into solving the murder, leads Puller to other murder, and leads to witnesses. The fingerprints give hope to Puller in to finding the murder. “When Puller saw the information his eyes widened”(194). This is Puller expression when he finds that partial fingerprint and that plate from the two guys following him. He now believes that he has proof that his aunt was murder, but higher officials in Paradise, Florida have kept it under the rug.
