The perspective of the source is represented by Barack Obama’s speech in June 4 2009, invoking the idea of pursuing internationalism rather than a strong nationalistic view and perspective of the country. One of the main themes he depicts is the idea of our, “differences,” reuniting the country into a more stronger and tenacious nation. This is evidently shown in 1994, when the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) came into conduct, generating one of the largest free trade sectors globally, while also laying the foundation for powerful economic growth and increased prosperity in America, Mexico, and Canada. NAFTA achieved this by breaking down trade barriers; eliminating tariffs on imports and exports on international product. Through this, imports from Canada, Mexico and the US increased from $151 million in 1993 to $590 billion in 2017. On average 36 million jobs were created as a result of this increase in commerce, boosting economic growth as much as 0.5% a year. This in turn provided a strong and stable economy with the prosperity of individuals as inflation decreased. Another example of the benefits of internationalism for the economy is shown globally through the World Trade Organization (WTO). Established in 1995, the international organization deals with rules and regulations of trade between nation-states, ensuring that trade occurs effectively and freefly. This act of aid to support brutal conditions in nations and the civilians living within, is a form of humanitarianism that many international organizations support, dealing with global issues like poverty, environmental disasters, endemic of disease, and many more. For example, one of the major international organizations that look into the humanitarian cause of defending child rights, is the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). Founded in 1955, UNICEF is a non-profitable humane organization that's sole focus involves saving the lives of children in poverty stricken and neglected conditions without access to basic needs. Having over 190 countries globally working towards the same goal, the organization has accomplished tremendously towards the benefit of desperate children worldwide: having field workers transport and deliver life saving packages, educate and supply basic needs. One contemporary example of how UNICEF aids towards humanity is shown through its involvement in the current Syrian crisis. Syria is being faced with a brutal civil war, starting in 2011 when civilians protested the harsh dictatorship of Bashar al-Assad.
