Abstract Cartwheel is a basic acrobatic movement that is first learned by any gymnast. A cartwheel is another elementary movement, generally taught fairly in any sequence of gymnastic instruction. (Hay, 1973) It develops flexibility, strength and stability of a gymnast. In doing a cartwheel, both arms and legs are extended going in a linear direction. There are four phases in a cartwheel, Preparatory phase, Lunge phase, Split phase and Recovery phase. We are comparing the movement of a formally trained gymnast and a dance performer without formal training.
