. What was the purpose of the study? The purpose of the study was to describe the relationship between emotional intelligence, psychological empowerment, resilience, spiritual well-being, and academic success in undergraduate and graduate nursing students.

b. Why was a descriptive correlational study design used?

A descriptive correlational design was used because the researchers intended to capture naturally occurring characteristics of a particular group (undergraduate and graduate students). Furthermore, the researchers aimed to obtain the data from participant without any manipulation (i.e. treatment or intervention).

c. Describe the sampling method and the sample. A convenient sample was recruited from:

The sample age ranged from 18-58 years old. The mean age was 30 years old. 97% of participants were women. 80% of the participants were Caucasian, 1% Asian, 7% African American, 5% Hispanic, and 1% Pacific Islander. 65% of participants were single, 29% married, 5% divorced, and 1% widowed.

The sampling method used was convenience sampling. Convenience sampling is a sampling technique where the researcher recruits participants from those readily available and who meet the criteria for participation in the study. The researcher does not attempts to limit or control the sample other than he ensures that it consists of members of the population. In our case, the sample was recruited from the available population of graduate and undergraduate students from Catholic University in New England.

Many factors influence stress from receiving chemotherapy:
• Patent characteristics: age, comorbidities, socioeconomic factors, and spirituality.
• Chemotherapy: type of chemotherapy (vesicant or irritant), administration route (IV, PO, or intraperitoneal), the degree of side effects that a patient may experience
• Social factors: social condition, adult company during chemotherapy treatments, emotional support, etc

Participant scheduled for chemotherapy would be recruited from an oncology outpatient clinic. Inclusion criteria would be adults, IV chemotherapy regimen that requires at least five treatments, any cancer diagnosis. Data collection would include a questioner administered in two sessions. One questionnaire about social support would be administered at the beginning of treatment and the other one toward the end of the overall chemotherapy treatment.
