Poor quality behavioral health services may lead to negative therapeutic outcomes and prevent people from enjoying the highest standard of physical and mental health. In behavioral health care, quality is a measure of whether services increase the likelihood of desired mental health outcomes and are consistent with current evidence-based practice. Good quality services help to build people’s confidence in mental health treatment, so that they are more likely to seek the care that they need. Without satisfactory quality, people with mental disorders, their families and the general public become disillusioned with mental health care, thus increasing the already large gap between the prevalence of mental disorders and those receiving care.
There are several ways for improving the quality of mental health services, some of them are as follows:
