1.0 Introduction
This article evaluates the main factors which are influencing the performance or the profitability of LIDL and ALDI in sales industry. The deployment of major statistical tools including regression analysis (for the linear additive model) and t-test for the comparison of the two companies hugely contributed to conduct the research. In addition, a range of people have participated in the questionnaire for the sake of data collection.
1.1 LIDL
LIDL is one of prominent retailer companies in sales industry. It was founded in 1930 as a grocery wholesaler in Germany. Since 1973 it has opened a wide range of stores outside Germany. Today it’s possible to find LIDL stores in almost all countries of Europe and it has over 580 stores in the UK. The main aim of LIDL is offering our customers everyday top quality products at the lowest possible price (see www.lidl.co.uk).
1.2 ALDI
ALDI is a pre-eminent worldwide retailer company with more than 7500 stores. IT was established in 1946 as a food store company by two German brothers, Karl and Theo Albrecht. In 1990 first ALDI store was opened in Britain and today it has over 400 stores nationwide. It is famous for offering best quality products, facilitating shopping experience, and weeding the redundant costs out for the customers.
1.3 Sample Characteristics
In the survey, 30 out of 51 people answered the questions. The Descriptive statistics of data is shown in the three tables given below.
