Starting around 1350 enthusiasm for art, literature, and trade increased throughout Northern Italy. This was the beginning of the Renaissance. Renaissance comes from the French word “rebirth.” According to the World Book, “Many Europeans saw this time as a rebirth of the classical periods of Greece and Rome.” The Renaissance originally began in the city of Florence, Italy. Later on in time, the Renaissance began to spread through Europe and the rest of Greece and Rome. Furthermore, the World Book states that, “The Renaissance was a time of great creativity.
