Quentin Jacobsen and Margo Roth Spiegelman have been friends since they were two. Their parents were friends. When they were nine they went to Jefferson Park. In the park the saw a corpse. Quentin wanted to leave but Margo wanted to invest it. According to Quentin, Margo always loved mysteries and in everything that came afterward, he could never stop thinking that maybe she loved mysteries so much that she became one.
