The Race Relations Act 1992 is a law which tries to avert discrimination based on an individual race, ethnicity and colour so therefore if an employer has treated or is treating someone unfairly judged on these characteristics they have committed an offence. This law can affect the recruitment and selection activities because Tesco must ensure that when they advertise the job vacancy throughout different methods like their website, recruitment agency it doesn’t state that only a certain race or ethnicity can apply etc. For example Tesco might advertise a vacancy for the role of a security guard but only states that candidates must only be African origin to apply for the vacancy. This is not only unlawful but creates an unequal opportunity
