John Ambulance Brigade (SJA), I was trained in pre-medical first aid and received certifications for AMFR and HCP-CPR which are updated on a yearly basis. My involvement with the community allowed me to effectively deal with patients of all ages and cultures, and to be sensitive to differences in what passes for propriety in various groups. I also developed an ability to communicate appropriately with patients who may be very ill, provide comfort care to patients’ families, and committed to patient’s confidentiality. It is also crucial to be able to work in a fast-paced and high pressure environment while maintaining composure. It is in this aspect that professionalism is vital as it ensures the patients quality of life as well as ensuring family members that care aid is being provided. Due to the nature of SJA providing care aid outside on the field, it is important that I maintain my physical fitness and the stamina to assist in carrying patients (if need be), or to perform any job duties in challenging situations. Since I am in contact with patients of various illnesses, I am well versed in maintaining sanitation standards; sterilizing used equipment and following the hygiene code of wearing personal protective equipment.
