Your chances of getting away will greatly increase just by simply killing L. So it was understandable if L didn’t want to publicize himself.
But honestly, why would L contact me, especially a low ranking agent as myself? And I soon came to a conclusion; I was filling in the role of his public face. In other words, I was L’s shield. That alone was going to put me on a dangerous spot; I was already on probation, which means no badge, no gun and no authority.
