For this week’s DBQ I chose to work with the essay, "The Long War" by Rebbeca Solnit. The problem the author describes in her essay is the issue of violence against women in our country. Solnit shines light on similar incidents that have occurred across the globe and uses them to cross reference and compare. After having read her essay I was captivated by her idea of “a pattern of violence” (Solnit 522) pointing fingers pre dominantly towards highly aggressive men. She uses statistics and research from others to come to the conclusion that a big source of the violence can be brought on by different risk factors.
