Cloaked in robes and hoods to disguise their identities, Klan members threatened, beat, and killed numerous blacks and others who supported them.” The klan had already going against the government and African American. This quote states that Jim Crow laws band African American from public education and transportation systems. African Americans wanted to learn more then anything in life and they got the privilege taking away from them. Another quote from the article states “As inequality became institutionalized, the Jim Crow laws required the separation of races in every facet of life including transportation, schools, lodging, public parks, theaters, hospitals , neighborhoods, cemeteries, and restaurants. Inter-racial marriages were prohibited. Business owners and public institutions were prohibited from allowing African American and white clientele to mingle”.
