History will continue to exist as loud reminders that it will continue to repeat events from our past. The assault on Red Beach located on the North beach of Inchon would exhibit to the world that the United Nations were willing to conduct the riskiest strategies to ensure the successful mission for the war. Korean War efforts faced many obstacles that they were not aware of, the actions that the Communist powers were in places due to the Japan-Russian War. The Korean War began in 1950, but before the war, there were friendly troops in place located in North Korea. General MacArthur’s tactical decisions were concise based on the disposition and composition of both friendly and enemy troops, the actions upon landing on Red Beach resulted in what will continue to be one of the last great amphibious assault ever directed. The origins of the campaign began as the United Nations became involved with the mistreatment of the Korean population. Korea has continued to have complex relations with China and Japan due to its location. A/5 landed North at 1733 hours, 1st platoon was pinned at the seawall, with 2nd platoon quickly advancing the seawall to the beach into the city towards Cemetery Hill. The British Consulate Hill was secured by E/5 at 1845 hours and A/5 actions on Cemetery Hill secured location at 1745 hours. The second wave of men, C/5 were tasked to take control North of Observatory Hill and D/5 the South half of Observatory Hill. At 1830 hours 8 Landing Ship Tanks (LST), causing confusion on the objective, North Korean forces on Observatory Hill opened fire on Red Beach, in which LST fired upon. The LST returned fire on friendly positions killing 1 and wounding 23
