“Reflective Essay” Writing an essay has always been challenging for me. Since I have been out of high school for ten years, one of my biggest fears of enrolling in college was writing papers. I was not going to let that stop me, because I want a college education. After taking the placement test summer of 2016 I had to take DRE-097 and DRE-098 which helped me become a better writer. Mrs. Ferard was my instructor for both classes and I learned from her. While taking those courses, I had to write six different essays, so I have had some experience. Throughout last semester I learned about MLA formatting, coordinating conjunctions, subordinating conjunctions, what the fanboy words and how to use them. Even though I had those two courses, I should practice as much as I can to become a better writer. It is important to realize that everyone has strengths and weaknesses. In my case, I believe that I have more weaknesses than I do strengths. For example, when I write an essay I have problems using correct grammar and punctuation. …show more content…
Whereas I believe that I only have strengths when I get to choose the topic of my essay. Reasons behind that is I have more to say and can form an essay that will have sentences that flow correctly. When I am writing freely about a topic that I like, it seems that I type what my mind is thinking about. For example, last semester I was assigned to write about how having or not having a father impacted my life. That was much easier on me because I could keep the essay going. I have noticed that if I write about something that I have experienced in my life, I can write all day long. During my writing process, I am organized. First, I use a bubble map to start my essay so I can give my reasons and examples. Second, I type my essay, then I proofread it to see what mistakes I might have made. Finally, I get a friend to read over it for me to see if they think it sounds
