In her declaration at Seneca Falls, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, protests the government because it does not give women the right to vote and therefore no representation(Doc I). Women would continue to fight back during this era with the creation of Bloomers and by keeping their maiden name. Stanton’s purpose was to advocate for and spread the concept of women’s rights to vote. Patrick Reason’s engraving depicts a female slave asking for help from women’s rights activists(Doc C). Many women’s rights activists like Susan B. Anthony would help the Abolitionist Movement. The purpose of Reason’s engraving was to show that slave women wished for help from women’s rights activists because their cases were so similar. The fourth annual report of the Society for the Reformation of Juvenile Delinquents in the city of New York was proud to report that they were helping young people who committed crimes to learn from their mistakes instead of just locking them up(Doc A). The society believed that no good would come from locking them in a jail cell. Aside from the help that the youth received, reforms were also made by Dorothea Dix to get the mentally ill out of prisons and into asylums so that they could receive the help that they needed. The report's purpose was to show that helping the youth is necessary, otherwise they would stay on the same self-destructive path that they were on. William McGuffey’s reader is about the enthusiasm that he had about going to school as a young child(Doc E). Knowing that his parents were sacrificing a lot for him to be able to go he would hurry home to help his father in the fields. McGuffey would go on to create improved text books alongside Noah Webster. William McGuffey’s point of view as a writer of the first textbooks in the United States is biased towards education being critical to a prosperous future. In Charles G. Finney’s expert, he states that through the help of reformed churches sinner’s can end their sinning and become good people(Doc B). He is looking to reawaken religion within the United States.
