As a young girl witnessing my parents' suffering, I resolved to help those who were hurting. Later, I found a role model in my cousin, who became a registered nurse. Her stories of helping others resonated deeply with me, mirroring my own aspirations. It was through her example that I clearly saw the path I wanted to pursue for myself. Along my journey to nursing school, I faced many of the same challenges my parents faced. However, I recognized the need to change my life, to break the cycle and forge a different path.

In pursuing my educational goals, I faced significant adversity, including the stigma associated with substance abuse and mental health disorders. These experiences strengthened my resilience and fueled my passion to help others facing similar challenges. Throughout my undergraduate studies at Kent State University and Capella University, I persevered and demonstrated that, regardless of past experiences, dreams can be achieved.
