Art has always been a major way of life in Europe, and the art was definitely different during the Renaissance compared to the Middle Ages. An apparent change between the two statues is the nudity (Document #2). During the Middle Ages, nudity or nakedness was never shown in painting nor on a statue, but during the Renaissance people started leaving that comfort zone and focused on the perfections of man. People's faith in the church started to decline as their eyes were open to what the church really wanted, which was power and money (Document #3). During the Middle Ages people did whatever the Church told them to do because they truly believed that this was the only way they could get into heaven, but during the Renaissance because some of the church's theories were untrue people lost faith in them. Indulgences (Document #11), were another way that the church had tricked the people, by telling them that they could buy their way into heaven. With the help of Martin Luther, people of the Renaissance finally saw that what the church was doing was wrong which sparked the Protestant Reformation leading to the new branch of Christianity know as Protestant.
