The Repercussions of a Divorce
The scope of this project is to help the reader understand the magnitude of repercussions caused by a divorce. This project is intended to examine the point of view of a person responsible for the divorce, by answering questions like “what leads to a divorce?” “What implications did the divorce have emotionally, spiritually, and financially?” And finally, “what were the reactions of the family members, friends and acquaintances such as co-workers, church members?”
I chose to examine one individual close to me for this project. His reasons for divorce are not unique, they are very common among other divorce couples. The repercussions caused by his divorce are distinctive and we get to examine each one in detail.

No matter how long and hard he worked, he never seemed to have money in his pocket. He tried having a cordial relationship with his ex-wife to see his children but too often it ended in an argument because the scars and memories imbedded in his wife’s memory never left. He eventually turned to the two people he thought he could never face again. After blaming them for everything gone wrong in his life, he turned to his parents. Welcoming him back with loving arms, they proved to be the medicine he so desperately needed. John moved back in with them which made it easier to catch up with his responsibilities, and since his parents were good friends with a judge, they managed to reduce the DWI penalties. Eventually through some of his parent’s church acquaintances, John also landed a better job with better pay. Finally, it seemed as though John’s life was taking a turn in the right direction. Also during this time, John met another woman who was also a victim of an abusive marriage and getting a divorce. They quickly became fond of each other and got married. Each had two children from their previous marriage when they met and four years later they eventually had one of their own. John’s spouse went back to school and became a registered nurse while John cleaned up his record and soon joined the police department. On the other hand, John’s former spouse had gone from being “well-off” to living in less desirable conditions. She remarried but her marriage failed for different reasons. Because she never took any initiatives to move up in society or better herself, she had the impression that John was the one better off after their divorce and resented
