Gun ownership organizations, such as the Texas State Rifle Association and the National Rifle Association, argue that the publication of information about licensed concealed handgun holders may create a larger illegal black market for gun resale, which in turn would create a more dangerous society. For example, if an individual wishes to maintain complete privacy in purchasing a firearm, it is possible for the purchaser to illegally purchase a gun through a black market, or at a gun show or swap meet, without having to create a record of his or her purchase.
