Research Outline
1. A. The constitution never supported equal rights to anyone except rich, land owning men which in the future created many problems among women who wanted life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
B. In 1789, the boundaries of suffrage were left untouched and were not added to the United States Constitution. Between 1787 and 1789 it was also determined that only white, rich males would have the right to vote.
C. The Equal Rights Amendment was proposed 1923 because women and other unequal citizens were not granted the same rights as men. Women were upset by this and demanded change in their society

The daily life of women changed significantly. Women were becoming independent, they didn’t make decisions based on their husbands, they set off getting married and starting a family for their job and the country opened up new opportunities such as college.
C. The role of the male was questioned during this change but women were finally able to accomplish the same goals as men.

3. The Equal Rights Amendment was supported by many feminists and many women organizations.
- The National Organization for Women, the largest, most influential, feminist organization, was founded in 1966 for women who had no outlet to express their interests. NOW called for “a fully equal partnership of the sexes, as part of the worldwide revolution of human rights”, they did this by demanding a greater education opportunities for women and focusing on women from work and political views.
- Kennedy was also a supporter of the equal rights amendment. He passed the Equal Pay Act to prevent women being paid less than men for equal work.
4. The opponents of the Equal Rights Amendment are against women becoming a figure in society and possibly taking over the male’s job.
