South Africa has a lot of biomes and the most common biome is the savanna biome, the southern Africa occupying 46% of its area and one-third of that are is in South Africa. The savanna biome has a flat ground level easy to walk in it, Savanna has some large hills where different animals can live there, the land is covered in tall grass with shrubs and isolated trees. They both have wet-dry tropical climate. The vegetation of the savanna biome in the tropical and the subtropical is poor because of the soils nutrients, some have hard crust or a barrier at some depth of the soil. This crust separate the shallow soil layer that grasses rely on for water, which dries during low period of rainfall, from the deepest layer of the soil may retain moisture all year. Trees in the savanna are located where cracks in the crust occurs because in these places the roots of the trees can access this deep soil water.
