Introduction
Parents, who throw parties for teens, supervised or not are a huge problem in the U.S. “Alcohol does not have to be consumed for kids to have a great time.” (Hepburn). Most parents rather than be a responsible adult, try to be their children’s best friend, in doing so that can send the children mixed messages that they can do what they want and the parents would not care. “Ten percent of nine to ten year olds have already started drinking” (U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services). Too many teens have lost their lives because of this nonsense.
“In 2002, 6,788 persons aged fifteen to twenty were involved in fatal car crashes and 295 of the drivers in this age group were killed by drinking”(U.S. Dept. Of Health and Human Services). Numerous of children are getting killed all because of their irresponsible parents that let them have parties. ”In 2005, A couple in Virginia was recently sentenced to 27 months in jail for throwing a supervised party for their sons Sixteenth birthday, at which beer was made available” (Balko).
