One of my favorite movies growing up was the Wizard of Oz. The primary characters made the show excitingly captivating. Each character desired to acquire a trait they considered lacking. Therefore, they were "off to see the Wizard, the wonderful Wizard Of Oz,... because of the wonderful things he does." Dorothy wanted to go home, The Tin Man desired a heart, the Scarecrow a brain, and the cowardly lion was seeking courage.
Which character can you identify with? The Tin Man lacking heart? The scarecrow lacking knowledge? Or perhaps the cowardly lion lacking courage is whom we can relate to, hence we have all sensed a fear of failure or doubted our abilities. Like the cowardly lion, we may be too fearful to count sheep during sleepless nights, or afraid to confront a "wicked witch" who is bullying. Ironically, the end of the story reveals the Lion, as did the other characters, made a deep self-discovery, he possessed the strength he was in search of.
