Once people put food on their plate, they tend to consume all of it, no matter how much food they will be eating. This often leads to obesity. People will take consistently take big portions of food and eat all of it and they consequently become obese. Portion size is so important because once people finish eating what is on their plate they have to decide whether or not they want to go back for seconds. Many times they will realize that they are already full, even if they have taken a small portion. If people consistently take smaller portions, they are far less likely to become obese. 2. David was trying to complete his Ph.D., but he had been procrastinating and had yet to complete his thesis. Thaler offered David the following deal. David would write Thaler multiple checks each worth $100 which Thaler would keep, but not deposit. David had to place a new chapter under Thalers door every month. If David failed to do so, Thaler would cash one of the checks. Thaler would do the same thing every time the chapter failed to meet the deadline. Furthermore, the money would go to a party Thaler would throw to which David would not be invited. This is an example of loss aversion because David did not want to lose the money‒especially if it was going towards a party he would not be invited
