First, Odysseus and I are determined to complete goals we set our minds to. A time Odysseus shows his valor is when three of his men eat the lotus that the Lotus Eaters had given them. Odysseus carried off his men “all three wailing, to the ship, tied them down under their rowing benches” (898). He wasn’t going …show more content…
When Odysseus and his men were trapped in the cyclops’ cave, he found a tree, made it smooth, then he “hewed again to make a stake with a pointed end… lifted it, and rammed it deep into his [Cyclops] crater eye” (904 & 906). He made a weapon to use against the cyclops out of a tree, strengthened it through heat treating and actually managed to wield it. Not a lot of people could think of that. Another way Odysseus shows ingenuity is when he has to find a means of escape from the cyclops’ cave after he is blinded, so he gathered the rams and his men, put the men under the rams and “tied them silently together… so three sheep could convey each man” (908). To use an animal, especially rams, take a lot of guts and a great mind for even thinking of it.A way I had shown my ability was when I had to start a fire for my dad. My dad is over dependent on a blowtorch to start his fires, but it ran out of propane. I own a magnesium rod and a knife so I cut some fine wood shavings, put it in a pile, shaved some magnesium off, and lit it up. Another way I show cleverness is when I run out of space in my room. I have a small room, and and can’t do what my brothers do and have mini totes and boxes under their beds, for mine is shorter than theirs. So I found a few old cat litter containers, cleaned them out well, filled them with my miscellaneous objects, and put them in a corner stacked up nicely.
