Respect is a crucial component of any military branch, especially the United States Army. Cadets at the United States Military Academy must possess unwavering respect for all members ranging from fellow cadets to the Sergeant Major. This must be infallible regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and religion. As a cadet at the USMA, and prospective career officer, I will display the utmost respect for all leaders, peers, and subordinates regardless of divergence. Throughout my life I have always envisioned all men and women as equals. Gender does not determine someone's phycological capacity. As a high school student at St. Thomas Aquinas, I have participated in numerous clubs and activities involving people of both sexes, and have excelled as both a group member and leader. As an educated man of high morality, I do not see color. I have numerous friends and exemplars in my life who are of diverse ethnic backgrounds. I view all people in the world not by uncontrollable ethnic qualities, but by personal ones such as mental strength, intelligence, and work ethic. I believe in only one race, the human race. While I identify as a straight male, I do not judge others by their identification. Sexual orientation does not contribute to military effectiveness if all other requirements are complete. I believe every person should have the shameless ability to identify with whichever sexual orientation they desire. I believe it is the for the best interests of the country for people to become mature and accept this difference between their neighbors. Sexual orientation will have no affect on my officer duties.
