Athens, Georgia is an extravagant city with a diverse population. Moving to such a large city can be a culture shock for many people, including myself. However, there are certain places in the city that can make Athens feel more like home. One of the hardest parts about moving to a big city from a small town is finding a location that can remind one of home. One location that stood out to me and helped me feel at ease in my new home is the restaurant Clocked. Clocked is a small diner located in downtown Athens that offers delicious burgers, sandwiches, malts, and milkshakes. The unique small diner adds character to the city of Athens and reminds me of home through the delicious food, friendly service, and the nostalgic sci-fi theme that reminds me of my childhood.
Clocked offers familiar, All-American food that can comfort those who are away from home for the first time. From 4th of July cookouts to football tailgates, eating a hamburger offers a sense of patriotism and a feeling of home. I knew before visiting that Clocked was a restaurant known for burgers. When we sat down to order, our waiter made sure that we were comfortable and checked on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. There was never a time when I ran out of something to drink or didn’t have a napkin to use. Not only was our waiter efficient while doing his job, he was also friendly. Throughout our visit at Clocked, our waiter cracked jokes with us and made small talk with us by asking about our day. While eating at Clocked I didn’t feel like I was at some fancy diner.
