While on the ride, they pass town ruined by many disasters. They pick up a slave named Jasper, but he surely does not last because he would sing and irritated Ridgeway, so he shoots him in the face. But the company of Cora he enjoys because he tells her of the horrific stories of how Lovey and Caesar died. They then make a stop in a town, where Cora sees a young black boy who is named Royal. That same day when night time falls, Boseman one of Ridgeway’s boys unchains Cora and tries to rape her. He is caught though by Ridgeway and is knocked down. While the two fights, Cora is rescued by the young boy Royal and his companions. They shoot Boseman and overpower the rest of the men. But this place is temporally though, not everyone stays for long. She faces that same situation in South Carolina where she did not want to leave. The boy Royal, she falls in love with and her makes tells her he will take her to Canada, but she refuses too. While this happens, he leads her to a station to get on a cart that leads to who knows where. But in the community where everyone is staying at now, there is conflict. Conflict whether runaway slaves should be allowed to stay there. A legally free slave by the name of Mingo says who does not think they should stay, it puts everyone else at danger. While discussing this of course, the farm is attacked, and people are killed including Royal and Cora is captured again by Ridgeway. But overall, she manages to escape again and she if offered a ride by a passing wagon and accepts offer to head to Missouri. Those are the main points that happen in the novel, a lot happened but this book was so good. In our world today, this book relates because racial conflict is so bad today. We are judged by our colors and this book shows that because that how slaves were treated back then by there color. Even after so many years have passed, race is still a big problem and will continue to be if we do not
