The protests were shown on every major news station, newspaper in various countries. In the Washington Post, an article published “From Trayvon Martin to Black Lives Matter” was written by a black journalist Jonathan Capehart. He makes his case by using all rhetorical techniques to verify his argument that police brutality is killing off black men and that these racist police officers are not being brought to justice for their actions. His use of pathos in his article and direct quotes from people whom have suffered from injustice really triggers an emotionally affect in people as well as and sway the readers to his side. Jonathan’s used emotionally charged persuasion in the way he referenced Barack Obama. He uses the quote about if Obama had a said “he’d look like Trayvon” His use of the president’s emotional remarks here sends a message that if the President is attached to this tragic case, everyone in America should be upset
