Haemon supports his claim by proving to his father how the citizens of Thebes feel towards their King. Haemon knows that his father does not want to make his citizens angry so he continues to bring up the citizens feelings just to prove to his father it is not just him feeling this type of way. Haemon continues to use a logical appeal by using the strategy of telling Creon the citizens of Thebes have known Antigone every since she was born and they have just met Creon, so it's obvious who they will side with .

Another strategy used is Haemon appealing to Creon’s family ties. “Nothing is closer to me than your happiness. What could be closer? Must not any son value his Father’s fortune as his father does his”(Sophocles,1090). Haemon uses an emotional tactic to persuade his father to free Antigone. He appeals to his father’s emotional side to convince his father he is not doing what is best for his family.
