Ivan Shook in “Flirting with Disaster: An Argument Against Integrating Women into the Combat Arms,” probably never saw any female companions after he submitted his essay and had it published. Shook had no delay in his thesis and his argument was straight forward with the claim that women should not be able to join the infantry. This kraurotic essay was no to be bias to a specific gender however the author wanted to demonstrate the reasons why female troops in combat will not be of best interest to the military. The authors’ usage of ethos in the essay create a sense credibility and allow the audience to be persuaded on his argument. His knowledge on the subject, and his apathetic point of view become an important role in the overall outcome
