The Andrew Buncombe begins by writing, “New video footage has emerged of Ferguson teenager Michael Brown, which appears to question the claim by police that he had robbed a convenience store shortly before he was shot dead by a white officer.” This starts the article off stoking the flames of those questioning how justified Michael Brown’s death was. Buncombe brings up an interview writing, “They destroyed Michael’s character with the tape, and they didn’t show us what actually happened,” Mr Pollock told the New York Times. “So this shows their intention to make him look bad. And shows suppression of evidence.” This leads the reader to believe the government was as petty as to slanger the ‘victim’s’ character. As stated above this has a negative effect on society as it is not a good thing for people to distrust those entrusted to protect them. The article is overall effective in persuading you to believe the police are at fault, however there are contradictions in the facts as mentioned.
