Only twenty-six percent of Native Americans go to college compare to forty-one percent of Whites, thirty-three percent of Blacks, twenty-seven percent of Hispanics, and fifty-eight percent of Asians. Sherman Alexie was one of the lucky twenty-six percent and in his story “The Joy of Reading and Writing: Superman and Me” he displays what it means to be an Indian in today’s America. Mr. Alexie is extremely effective when trying to get his point across. Mr. Alexie uses repetition show the reader how important things actually are. He also uses tone to push his message, and finally he is a credible source because he's lived through it.
