“Til it happens to you” In Lady Gaga’s music video “Till it happens to you” she is trying to spread awareness of the problems of rape in college campuses. This music video uses a variety of different ways to get this message across but mainly by the strong use of pathos. It does a very good job getting it’s point across and is meant for a wide range of viewers. Lady Gaga’s music video “Til it happens to you” is meant to target a large range of audiences which is an adequate reason why it does an exceptional job getting it’s message across. This music video can be relatable mainly to young viewers male and female. There is all different types of races present in this video in order to make it relatable to many young women. It truly broke my heart to watch these girls get raped and it honestly made me tear up. I am not an easy crier so this emotion to come from a music video shows how effectively pathos was used to get this message across. As you watch these girls sob on the ground it makes the viewer just want to jump through their screen and hug them and save them. Pathos, in my opinion, is the most effective way for someone to get their point across. Human’s are such emotional beings so that is why this type of argument sticks with us the most. Yeah, throw some facts at us and it might make us think for a few minutes but make a person cry over watching something and you have really made a difference in the way that person thinks. This music video shows many different girls going through the same thing which makes the viewer able to relate to these girls and imagine what it could be like to be them. When you read the words they write on their arms such as “Believe me” it makes the viewer really think about society today. Those words make the viewer consider that after all the pain that girl has gone through she still has to deal with society’s ways now of having girls who say they have been raped being called liars. This music video is full of things that tug at the heart strings that make the viewer want to make a change in the world to stop what is making these girls feel like they are not good
