Richard Buckminster “Bucky” Fuller was born in Milton, Massachusetts on July 12, 1895. He spent much of his teen years on Bear Island, Penobscot Bay, off the coast of Maine. He was always having trouble with Geometry and being able to imagine that a chalk dot on the blackboard represented a mathematical point, or that an imperfectly drawn line with an arrow at the end was meant to stretch off to infinity.
