In the story, “The Most Dangerous Game”, the author, Richard Connel, introduces two key characters; Sanger Rainsford and General Zaroff. Through these characters, Connel demonstrates how ferocious, yet skilled, man can be in the competition of two Hunters. Connel portrays several of the traits and personalities of the characters through their reactions to conflict. Such conflicts between men, one's self, society, and nature, help to build up the main characters and the reader's’ understanding of the story.
