The play Richard III is about Richard’s secret ambition to become king, meaning he needs to take the crown from his older brother King Edward IV, who was crowned king after a series of long civil wars - also known as the Wars of the Roses. He will do anything to gain power and Richard decides to kill anyone that will get in his way. Richard manipulates Lady Anne into marrying him at Henry VI, her father-in-law’s, funeral. Lady Anne marries him even though she knows that Richard murdered her first husband and her late husbands father. He also arranges to have his own older brother George, Duke of Clarence, executed, then pushes the guilt onto his sick older brother, King Edward, in order to speed up his death. When
