Richard Owen was the first to capture the scientific investigation of dinosaurs in 1840’s. Richard Owen conclude “That three large fossil reptile, all from the southern England, shared features of the hip region lacking in other reptiles unusual features were all large, key feature showed how their bodies were specialized to carry a great amount of weight”(Naish and Barrett,2016, p.14-15). Richard Owen came up with the name dinosaurs which meant “terrible reptile. Dinosaurs fossils have been found before Richard by ancient Greeks, Romans and Chinese which thought the fossils were the remains of a hero’s or Monsters. Dinosaurs caught the interest of other scientists around the world during the early 1900’s. As the interest in the evolving of dinosaurs developed also came with scientist wanting to know how dinosaurs became extinct. Many controversial theories of dinosaur’s extinction surfaced such as volcanism -Deccan traps and Craters. Following these theories different researches put together pieces weak and strong evidence to find the initial cause of the dinosaur’s extinction and to discover which hypothesis has that best explain with the data representing it.
