Though there are limited studies on the impact of mediation on human’s health, Western cultured medicine has significantly started to use mediation in practice. Further studies are being conducted to deeply understand the impact of mindfulness mediation on specific populations and larger sample sizes. Practicing religion also is a form of mediation for some people since Jesus said “without silence, we do not really experience our experiences. We have many experiences, but they do not have the power to change us, to awaken us, to give us that joy that the world cannot give us” (Rohr, p. 4). Today, we live in a society that constantly on the go and we do not take the time to appreciate our experiences. To live a simpler life one must enjoy the silence since “silence is the essence of simple and stripped down” (Rohr, p. 2).
