Richard TeLinde a top cervical cancer expert who was trying to find treatments and cures. Telinde worked with Dr. George Gey, who was head of tissue culture at John Hopkins. TeLinde wanted a way to grow living samples from cervical tissue and compare it to cancerous tissues which would allow his to learn more about carcinoma (Skloot 30).
