The show, Rick and Morty, has many different characters, but perhaps the most interesting of the bunch is the Smith/Sanchez family. First, there is Morty. Morty Smith is Rick's grandson, and your typical teenage boy. Filled with hormones, he is always caught in awkward situations. Morty's squeaky voice even adds realism to the character. He is also Rick's main accomplice on advetntures. Next, we have Summer. Summer Smith is Morty's older sister. She is a stereotypical teenage girl, as she is always is on her phone and has a "teenager attitude".When Rick brings her on adventures (which is rare), she is usually blamed for everything wrong that happens simply because she's of female gender. But underneath the stubborn shell, she would still do anything for her family. Only if it comes to extreme measures, however. Now, we have Jerry. Jerry Smith, father to Morty, is a protective father that disapproves of Morty's adventures with Rick. He is stubborn and he is considered the least intelligent in the family. Rick Sanchez is an old scientist as well as the smartest man in the world. He is Beth's father and his alcholism is reflected in Beth, as Beth is also an alcoholic. He acts as if he believes his family is less than him, but under the "macho" shell, he adores his family very much; mainly Beth, Morty, and Summer respectively. (in the sense of how much affection he has for each one) Rick is also known to say things that people may find offensive. For example, in the ninth episode of the first season, he is given a cursed microscope that if he were to use it, it would make him "mentally retarded". After discovering this, he makes a speech of how he stated the fact that the microscope would have made an extreme drop in his IQ and that he is not disparaging the differently abled, which the derogatory term, "retarded" is associated
