The Constitution was brought forth to this nation in the year 1787. This document is considered to be the “framework of America’s system of government” (Constitution). With the signing of this document, it marked our freedom from Britain. Britain at the time was the main central power governing the thirteen colonies. American citizens should support the constitution because without it, we would probably still be under British rule causing distress between the two nations. These are formal statements declaring legal and civil rights to citizens of the United States. Rights declaring such things like free speech, right to vote , right to bear arms, right to speedy trial, and so much more. Although these rights are there for every citizen, Americans need to learn that these rights should not be taken for granted. A lot of these rights would not be in the constitution if it wasn’t for people trying to change the way America was in the past. That is another reason why we need to honor what we have.
